Our beloved son and big brother, Robert "R.J." Joshua Davis, was born in Columbus, Georgia on April 17, 1986 and grew up in Salem, Alabama. R.J. was brutally murdered on May 24, 2004 at the young age of 18.
R.J. was a very unique boy who loved life and people. We believe his mission in life was to make everyone laugh. He cared for others and had such a giving heart. He displayed his compassion openly and always abided by the "Golden Rule". R.J. loved all of God’s creatures, big and small, and always had a pet of some sort.
R.J. was a member at Bethany Baptist Church where he attended weekly with his family. He loved the Lord with all of his heart praying and reading the Bible nightly.
R.J. excelled in school skipping the 8th grade and going on to the 9th grade. By the time he reached the 10th grade he had already exceeded the 4h level in collage calculus. Needless to say the teachers were astounded by his mathematical abilities.
R.J.’s true passion was music. He played both acoustic and electric guitar, the piano, keyboard and the drums. He created, composed, mixed, mastered and produced music as well. It was his dream to be a record producer and after almost five years of hard work his dream was about to be realized.
It’s been so hard letting go of R.J. He was the backbone of our family as he was the one who kept us going with his sense of humor and contagious laughter. He was so compassionate and taught us the true meaning of unconditional love with his big ole heart of gold. He was a free spirit, so full of life and gave love so freely. We will always love and miss R.J. We cherish the memories and years we had with him.
