Brian Christopher Compton
was born in Shoreham-by-sea
on the 22nd of January 1962.

He had Meningitis not long after he was born and was put in an Isolation hospital. His poor mum wasn't allowed to visit and spent night after night walking in the snow just to catch a glimpse of her precious baby. No-one knew she was there until she was spotted by a kind nurse who took her in to warm up. She tells this story with tears in her eyes every time. She has so much love for her little boy. Brian was a little fighter and survived.

Then Brian had measles. He also developed asthma and had very dry skin. His mum told me at times people would stare into his pram and make comments on his skin almost in disgust, but to her he was the most beautiful baby in the world.

Brian loved a quiet life. He was a great listener and always willing to help with anything.

He was definitely a perfectionist. You could never fault any work he did not ever.

I knew him from about 24 years. We had our ups and downs, but once our marriage came to an end we vowed to stay friends. That's just what we did. All I ever wanted for him was for him to be happy. When we first split up I realised sometimes you have to love someone enough to let them go.

Brian went on to have other relationships. Lauren's mum and I have decided to keep his three children together, so they will always have each other. This has made us realise you have to treasure the family you have left. Brian would have wanted nothing less.

Brian passed away on the 21st of August 2005. I will always remember his bright eyes and his lovely smile.....and of course,

His heart of Gold.
